Veteran's Aid & Attendance Benefit
The Veterans' Administration offers a Special Pension with Aid and Attendance (A&A) benefit that is largely unknown. This Special Pension (part of VA Improved Pension Program) allows for veterans and surviving spouses who require assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and meals such as, those services provided in a nursing home or assisted living facility to receive additional monetary benefits.
Most veterans or spouses of a veteran who need assisted living services will qualify for this benefit depending on each individual's income situation. If eligible, the Aid and Attendance benefit can help pay for the costs of care. A veteran who is eligible can receive up to $1644 per month, while a surviving spouse can receive up to $1056 per month. A couple is eligible for $1950 per month.
